Lightning and Surge Protection
Lightning frequently finds its way to electric fence lines. When it does, the
sudden power surge can travel down the fence wire and damage your fence
controller.
Lightning and surge suppressors can prevent or limit lightning damage to your
fence controller. They are a low-cost way to help protect your fence
controller.
Lightning protection tips
1. Consider disconnecting the controller from its power source when storms
are near
2. Install a lightning diverter/arrestor (ideally, at each fence corner) to
divert lightning to the ground before it can damage the controller
3. Install a lightning choke between the fence line and the controller to
dissipate surges
4. Use the Spring Gate Assembly for gate openings to dissipate lightning
surges as they travel down the fence line
