How many copper split bolt connectors do I need?

Use copper split bolt connectors to start or terminate a strand of ElectroBraid®, to splice to strands together or for electrical connections.

  1. Count the number of end posts, and multiply by the number of strands used in your fence = ____.
  2. Count the number of fence lines that exceed 1000 feet (the length of Braid™ included in each reel of ElectroBraid®) and multiply by the number of strands used in your fence = _____.
  3. For each additional electrical connection (examples: connecting copper lead-out wire from your charger/energizer to your ElectroBraid® fence*, connecting the copper lead-out wire from ground rods to the fence), connecting Braid™ to each horse gate handle, you will need one copper split bolt connector = ____.
  4. Add these three numbers together = _____. This in the number of copper split bolt connectors you need. * For easier troubleshooting, many ElectroBraid® customers choose to use an extra copper split bolt connector to connect electrical components. That way, if you want to disconnect the electrical from a strand, you do not have to use a tensioning device to hold tension on the strand.

How do I splice ElectroBraid® using a copper split bolt connector?

Use an ElectroBraid® copper split bolt connector when you come to the end of one reel of ElectroBraid® and are starting another.

  1. Make sure to tape and singe both ends of Braid™ you plan to connect.
  2. Unscrew the copper split bolt connector partway and place the two ends of ElectroBraid® between the two parts of the connector, overlapping the strands by about four (4) inches and ensuring there is direct contact between the copper strands in each strand of Braid™.
  3. Tighten the copper split bolt connector to secure the Braid™ in place.

How do I use a copper split bolt connector when installing end posts?

  1. Tape and singe the leading end of the Braid™.
  2. Unscrew the copper split bolt connector partway slide it over the leading end of the ElectroBraid® strand.
  3. Then feed the Braid™ through the ElectroBraid® roller insulator in white or black and fold the ElectroBraid® back on itself.
  4. Feed the leading end of the Braid™ through the split bolt connector again (this time in the opposite direction).
  5. Position the copper split bolt connector about two (2) inches from the insulator and at least two (2) inches of ElectroBraid® outside connector.
  6. Tighten the copper split bolt connector to secure the Braid™ in place.

ElectroBraid® Copper Split Bolt Connector (10 count) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazon Review I tested the items for strength and machining. The movable piece on the bolt does not have ridges which form arrows as I have used in the past. I may add some myself but without them they do what I want. They appear to be strong and I could not strip the threads using a crescent wrench with the bolt head in a vise. I will be using them to clamp a wire antenna instead of soldering. I have done this in the past and see no problem using them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey, but do as the should Good quality products, does as it should. However, really cannot fathom how the price of these is justified. I realize it's copper, but the price point is a bit obscene. If I had found copper alternatives that would have shipped to Canada elsewhere, I definitely would have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great I just did my electrobraid fence using those connector, the quality is great and they hold the rope very well. Compare to what you can buy at the hardware store those are 100% better and also a little cheaper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazon Review These work really well, but if you have to completely unscrew the nut, they can be tricky to realign. They work extremely well and hold the braid tight.
