Fi-Shock® 5 Mile AC Low Impedance Energizer
Need to contain your pets or keep unwanted animals out of your lawn or garden with an electric fence charger? The Fi-Shock® 5 Mile AC Low Impedance Energizer is ideal for powering electric fences at home or on the farm. When connected to an AC power source, the Fi-Shock® electric fence charger has a five mile range in ideal conditions. A weatherproof outer casing protects the unit’s inner circuitry from damage; however, because its connectors are exposed, installing the EA5M-FS in a sheltered place is recommended. A one year warranty covers any manufacturing defects as well as damage due to lightning.
- Electrifies up to five miles of fencing in ideal conditions
- Produces a pulsating, low impedance electrical current output rated to 0.1 Joules
- Connects to a standard electrical outlet with a voltage of 110-120 VAC, 60 Hz, 1VA
- 6,000 V (unloaded) output voltage
- Features a durable extension power cord for installation in remote locations
- Protects against damage to internal components with weather-resistant housing
- One year limited warranty
Use the EA5M-FS to electrify your existing wire fencing or to create a new installation. When choosing an energizer, remember that the EA5M-FS’s five mile range is in ideal conditions, and that double- or triple-stranding your fence will require two or three times the amount of electrified wire. If you have any questions about whether or not the EA5M-FS is a suitable electric fence charger for your needs, view our Help & Advice Tab or contact our team directly for assistance at 855-5-FISHOCK.
Why AC Power
Low impedance AC electric fence chargers are preferred because they produce a pulsing charge that is strong enough to withstand energy drain due to weeds or overgrown grass. The EA5M-FS features a built-in extension cord for installation in remote areas.
Compared to battery and solar-powered alternatives, AC electrical fences are preferred for most applications. The AC-powered EA5M-FS is easy to install and delivers reliable performance in almost any weather. AC electric fence chargers also require less maintenance.
How to Ground the EA5M-FS
In order to deliver reliable power to an electric fence, the EA5M-FS Fi-Shock® electric fence charger must be properly grounded. This completes the fence’s electrical circuit and ensures a charge will be delivered when an animal comes into contact with it. Grounding clips, rods and insulated wire are sold separately, and they must be installed within 20 feet of the charger.

All About Electric Fence Chargers
Depending on where you live in this country, the electric fence charger may have a different name. Some areas call chargers electric fence energizers while other areas may call them fencers. Whatever the name, the purpose is to alter the incoming electrical charge into a safer form of electricity. Learn about the different types of electric fence energizers available.

Charger Placement Tips
Your charger should be installed in a clean, sheltered location away from direct moisture and sunlight (with the exception of solar powered chargers). It also needs to be accessible to a separate ground rod system from a home or barn.
If you're using an AC charger, the location should be as close to the power source and the electric fence as possible. Even though the charger's enclosure is basically weatherproof, it is advisable to install it indoors or in weatherproof housing.
Be sure to install porcelain tube-type insulators (or equivalent) in the walls of buildings or housings where the fence wires feed through.
Never allow the fence wires to come into contact with objects which may conduct the electric "charge" to ground.
Frequently inspect the area where the charger is installed and maintain it as a clean and dry environment.Learn More Tips »
FAQs about Fi-Shock® Chargers
Q: What is an energizer?
A: Often called "Chargers" or "Fencers", the purpose of an energizer is to convert the electrical input from a dangerous charge to an effective and safe electrical charge. The energizer, or charger, lowers Amps and increases volts.
Q: Which charger should I use?
A: There are three questions to ask before this question can be answered:
What power source do I have?
If you can use AC (regular outlet) power, that would be preferred. Other options include DC (Battery powered) or Solar power.
What is the perimeter distance?
Each Fi-Shock charger has clearly marked on it the range of wire that it will charge. Remember that the range is for one strand of wire, so if multiple strands are being charged then more power is needed.
What animals are being contained or repelled?
Dogs, cats, raccoons etc, are very sensitive to electrical charges and thus need a smaller charger. Predator control as well as sheep and large livestock need more power to help in the training process.
Q: Do I need to protect the charger from the weather?
A: Yes. Follow the instruction on each charger. Solar units obviously need direct sun light and need to face the sun for best results.
