Electric Fences for Pet Containment and Control
Zareba® provides two different options for above-ground electric fence for pets to contain dogs and other pets: retrofit existing fences and semi-permanent fences. Your best choice will depend on your dog’s personality, height, weight, fur length, and the tendency of the breed to dig or jump.
RETROFIT EXISTING FENCES
Are you tired of your dog escaping from your fenced yard or kennel – or other dogs getting in to your dogs?
For existing wood, vinyl or chain link fences, an electrified wire at the bottom will prevent digging, and an electrified wire at the top will prevent climbing. The wires are on the inside when keeping dogs in, and on the outside when trying to keep other animals out. With quality products from ZarebaSystems®, you can turn your traditional fence into an electric fence for small animals.
Our insulators are available in a variety of styles to match your current fence. Add poly wire or poly tape along with a fence charger and ground system and you’ve got a simple, low cost way to “dog-proof” an existing fence. (Note: you can not directly electrify a chain link or woven wire fence, as they will ground out).
SEMI-PERMANENT PET FENCES
You can create your own electric fence for small animals using T-posts and poly wire or tape. Fence posts should be spaced 5-12 feet apart, depending on the shape and terrain of your yard.
Wires should start close to the ground and then be spaced 4-6 inches apart. Use 3 to 10 wires, depending on the size, personality and jumping ability of the dog.
Because the wires are close to the ground, you should keep them free of vegetation and use a low-impedance fence charger. A low-impedance charger increases its energy output as vegetation drains energy from the electric fence for pets.

The Zareba® Fence Charger Warranty
ZAREBA® SYSTEMS LIMITED WARRANTY
Zareba (Red Snap’r, Blitzer and other energizers made under the Zareba brand) warrants energizers with a mile rating under 20 miles for 12 months (a full year) from the date of purchase (or date or manufacture if proof of purchase is not provided) against defects in materials and workmanship, and from damage caused by lightning.
Energizers with a mile rating over 20 miles have a 24 month warranty (two years) total. Energizers with a mile rating over 50 miles have a 36 month warranty (three year) when registered on line at the time of purchase.
For any sized energizer, retain your receipt for proof of purchase or register your energizer on line at www.zarebasystems.com immediately after purchase. Also, please reference the web page for a list of Authorized Repair Centers and instructions on returning fence controllers for service.
Energizers which come equipped with the Storm Guard lightning protection module are warranted only when the Storm Guard is properly being used on the fencer.
TERMS APPLICABLE TO BOTH 30-DAY RETURN POLICY AND THE LIMITED WARRANTY
Neither the 30-day return policy nor the limited warranty applies to any defect caused by improper installation, misuse, product alterations, tampering, neglect, or any similar reason not related to product malfunctions or defects in the materials or workmanship of the product. The 30-Day return policy and the limited warranties are given only to the original purchaser of the product and not to any subsequent owners or to any other user or person when installed and used in accordance with the instructions found in the owner’s manual. No person is authorized to grant any warranty additional to or different from this written warranty.
To make a warranty claim, you must contact Woodstream Corp at 800-800-1819 or www.zarebasystems.com regarding the defective product or parts during the warranty period or contact one of the Authorized Repair Centers listed on www.zarebasystems.com.
If you have not registered your energizer on line immediately after purchase, you may need to provide additional information such as, your name, mailing address, proof of your purchase date, and a description of the problem. If the defect is covered by the limited warranty, Woodstream Corp or a repair station will repair or replace (at its option) the defective product or parts
NEITHER THE SELLER NOR THE MANUFACTURER SHALL HAVE ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM OR CAUSED BY ANY DEFECT, FAILURE, OR MALFUNCTION OF ANY PRODUCT.
UPON EXPIRATION OF THE 30 DAY RETURN POLICY, NO WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE OTHER THAN THE LIMITED WARRANTY PROVIDED HEREIN IS MADE, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE WHICH MAY ARISE AT LAW ARE HEREBY EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED UNLESS STATE LAW PRECLUDES DISCLAIMING THEM IN WHICH CASE THEY ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD.
SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON THE DURATION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, EXCLUSION, OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES FOR CERTAIN PURCHASERS, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
THIS LIMITED WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE.
SERIAL NUMBER INFORMATION
The serial number for all Woodstream Corp. fence energizers will go to a 10 digit serial number from the 12 digit currently being used. The format for the new 10 digit serial number is as follows….

This product solved my dogs barking problem. They would bark through the fence at my neighbors dogs and after putting up the electric fence they quickly learned not to go near the fence and now they sit and look at the other dogs. I tried everything from bark collars,to chicken fence wire and this did the trick. every one of my toy poodles(5 of them) got a shock and quickly learned. TERRIFIC ITEM maybe it can solve someone elses problem like mine! It is not a harsh treatment the shock is mild I tried it myself
