Review RateFence DoctorI don't know how many hours we have wasted trying to find shorts in our fences. As soon as this came in the mail we tried it out. Works perfectly. We were able to find a short in one line in no time. I really like the fact that you do not have to put a wire in the ground. This is a must have tool.
Review RateWhat the Doctor orderedThis product was fantastic. Live on a small farm and we inherited the electric fencing which was old and we knew nothing about troubleshooting issues being the city folks that we are. We spent a great deal of money and we wish we knew about this product before hand. We found the issue and the fencing is doing better job at protecting our animals.
Review RateZareba Fence DoctorThis is exactly what I was looking for. I can quickly find short circuits. It even tells me in which direction to look.
Review RateReliable and convenient testerYears ago I bought a fence tester that had a stack of lights to indicate voltage - it was not easy to read in bright sunlight and readings were not consistent, so not so good. Later I bought a digital meter that was fairly consistent and easy to read. Both of these require a ground probe making checking horse paddocks tedious. The Zareba Fence Doctor is easy to read, readings are consistent and it does not require a ground probe - good things. The amp feature that helps locate shorts is good but Zareba needs to provide more documentation on how to use this feature - the user's manual is very brief, I don't find more information on their website, and I have no idea whether it measures amps, milli-amps, or micro-amps nor where the amps are flowing - thus 4 instead of 5 stars.Response From Zareba®Susan : Consumer Relations RepresentativeHello Allen,
We are glad to hear how well this tester has worked to allow you to easily check your horse paddocks and locate any shorts along the fence.
The amp feature on this tester measures in amps rather than Milli-amps etc. The amount of voltage and amps that are on the fence will vary depending on the length of fence and seasonal conditions such as vegetation and moisture. Due to this, we recommend to practice using the tester by placing shorts along the fence. This will allow you to learn how to find the shorts as well as learn the typical voltage and amps that you can expect to see on your individual fence.
We hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-ZAREBA (1-855-592-7322) with any additional questions.
