Impressed with Zareba Customer Service | Great little item! By Andrea

Great little item. It reads an electric signal from about 18" away...which I found interesting because it demonstrated that horses are sensitive to that electric field without touching the fence and will stay away from it, unless of course it has a short somewhere. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that the first unit I purchased would not work when a new battery was installed. Neither would the battery case close properly. HOWEVER, Zareba was fantastic! They replaced the unit without my presenting a receipt! They really stood behind what they sell. Very impressed!

Lights hard to see By Clydegirl

The unit worked fine, but the lights are impossible to see and I am not willing to be repairing/testing my fence in the dark! I returned my unit because the battery cover piece was defective and would not go back on the unit. Three of us tried! This one needs a few tweaks to be worth $40-$50.

"Batteries included" in your purchase of DEFT-AFW Digital Electric Fence Tester By jay

I just purchased the digital meter/tester and found the following: The latest product description says the unit does not include the 9 Volt battery. The unit I purchased at Tractor Supply one week ago came with a battery according to the product packaging, "9v battery included", I trusted that and attempted my first measurement on a new controller I also had purchased and got no reading at all. Also tried a totally different controller w/o a reading. Since my unit came with a battery, I opened the unit to verify I had a 9 volt battery in place. It was but when I measured the battery it was only 7.1 volts. Replaced it with a new 9 volt battery and the unit is working fine. The company must have realized that intsalling a battery at the end point of manufacturing followed by months of "on-the-shelft time", led to battery dischage. Therefore they are now not providing a battery with the unit. So, if you bought a unit that says the battery is included, you may want to test the battery because it could be depleted and in my case, caused me to believe my meter was defective.

Don't buy it unless you are going to use it in the dark By a farmer

Can only see the numbers when it is dark. Useless during the day.

Q.Why is the tester flashing 9.9KV and not reading it steady

Most energizers have a pulsating output, so the voltage reading will fluctuate.

Q.what tester do I need to purchase for use with the 100 mile charger? thanks

We recommend this tester or the Zareba® 8-Light Electric Fence Voltage Tester (Model RSVT8). Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-ZAREBA (1-855-592-7322) with any questions or for additional assistance.

Q.How do I get the battery cover to open?!

To access the battery, press in on the cover and slide down.
