This unit is a fuseless design, UL Listed, and tested with a full-load in the U.S after being manufactured. To check if there is power to the fencer, use the "fence OK" indicator light as a quick and easy reference. The light blinks at 1-second intervals showing when the fence is live. Easily mount this Fi-Shock® charger with the holes along the top of the unit. Hang the energizer from the wall, a post, or inside a protective weather-proof cabinet.

Where to Use The Fi-Shock® 10 Mile AC Fence Charger must be plugged into a standard, 2-prong outlet. If you do not have a plug near where you need the charger to be, simply run a jumper line with some of our insulated cable. When mounting your fence energizer, remember it must be sheltered from weather conditions. Inside of a shed or pole barn is ideal, but you can hang the energizer from the wall, a post, or inside a protective weather-proof cabinet.

Q&A
Q.I have a Zareba with .5 output joules, model # EAC10M-Z. I have a fenced in back yard which is squared off to my house. Would like to put up fence for our 2- Shih tzus that tear up the grass that’s closest to the fence. My wife is convinced the electric fence will harm the dogs when they get shocked. Is that possible?
A.

We do not recommend electric fencing for dogs under 15 lbs.

Q.If the positive wire shorts to a metal grounded fence will the controller shut down without damage and reactivate when the short is cleared?
A.

We recommend keeping the electrified fence wire four inches away from other metal/fencing at all times. For further assistance, please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-ZAREBA (1-855-592-7322).

All About Electric Fence Chargers

Depending on where you live in the country, the electric fence charger may have a different name. Some areas call chargers electric fence energizers while other areas may call them fencers. Tips

Charger Placement Tips

Your charger should be installed in a clean, sheltered location away from direct moisture and sunlight (with the exception of solar powered chargers). It also needs to be accessible to a separate ground rod system from a home or barn.

If you're using an AC charger, the location should be as close to the power source and the electric fence as possible. Even though the charger's enclosure is basically weatherproof, it is advisable to install it indoors or in weatherproof housing.

Be sure to install porcelain tube-type insulators (or equivalent) in the walls of buildings or housings where the fence wires feed through.

Never allow the fence wires to come into contact with objects which may conduct the electric "charge" to ground.

Frequently inspect the area where the charger is installed and maintain it as a clean and dry environment.

FAQs

Fi-Shock® FAQs on Electric Fence Systems

Q: What is an energizer?

A: Often called "Chargers" or "Fencers", the purpose of an energizer is to convert the electrical input from a dangerous charge to an effective and safe electrical charge. The energizer, or charger, lowers Amps and increases volts.

Q: Which charger should I use?

A: There are three questions to ask before this question can be answered:

  1. What power source do I have?

If you can use AC (regular outlet) power,

that would be preferred. Other options

include DC (Battery powered) or Solar power.

  2. What is the perimeter distance?

Each Fi-Shock® charger has clearly marked on it the range of wire that it will charge. Remember that the range is for one strand of wire, so if multiple strands are being charged then more power is needed.

  3. What animals are being contained or repelled?

Dogs, cats, raccoons etc, are very sensitive to electrical charges and thus need a smaller charger. Predator control as well as sheep and large livestock need more power to help in the training process.

Q: Do I need to protect the charger from the weather?

A: Yes. Follow the instruction on each charger. Solar units obviously need direct sun light and need to face the sun for best results.
