These have to be the worst line tensioner design ever. You cannot get even small gauge wire very tight because of the design of the tensioner and that it is made of plastic. The more you tighten it the more the plastic deflects and disengages the cogs on the gear, skipping back to a slack setting, which is the only way it will stay engaged. You have to disconnect the wire and thread it through the tensioner. There are alot better (metal) tensioners for less money and you do not have to cut your wire to use them.
