This solar battery for electric fences is an excellent investment for maintaining consistent power in remote or off-grid locations. It charges efficiently during the day and provides reliable energy to keep the fence running smoothly, even through cloudy conditions. The installation is straightforward, and the durable construction ensures it withstands various weather conditions. It's a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution for ensuring your fence stays operational. Highly recommended!

Received the very expensive replacement batteries. Charged them in the unit for five sunny days, and they failed to produce enough energy in the fence to even tickle my finger. I reached out to the company and they have so far ignored me. Either the unit has become defective or (more likely), the batteries were sitting on the shelf too long.

Q&A

I have an SP3 solar powered fence controller that I purchased several years ago. It is used to protect my apiary from bears. The apiary is a 10'X15' rectangle. I have four wires which connect to the controller, and a wire that connects to two ground poles. I've purchased a Treeline battery from TSC, 6v 4.5 Ah (SLA/AGM, general purpose deep cycling battery). My multimeter showed 6.4 volts charge for the battery before I installed it in the fence controller. When I hooked the controller up to the fence and ground wires and turned it on, the fencer unit's red light blinked on/off. I used the Zareba voltage unit to check the voltage for the fence and it didn't register anything. I hooked my multi-meter to the ground and fence terminals on the fencer unit and it registered 0, then 2.

Can you help me diagnose and fix my electric fence? Thank you. Lonnie B 828-280-3784

If a new replacement battery was recently installed, the solar energizer should first be placed in the OFF position under direct sunlight for at least 3 full days to allow the battery to fully charge before use.

You can also review the fence troubleshooting steps available on our website to check the fence line, grounding system, and wire connections. If those steps have been completed and the unit is still not producing voltage, it may be time to replace the energizer.

In my previous question I stated that I've purchased a Treeline battery from TSC, 6v 4.5 Ah (SLA/AGM, general purpose deep cycling battery). Will this battery work in my SP3 fence controller. Please answer the battery question. THanks. Lonnie B 828-280-3784

As long as the replacement battery model is ASB30-2, it will work with the Zareba® SP3 30 Mile Solar Powered Energizer. This applies to both Zareba® and American Farm Works® branded units.

Thank you for contacting us. We do not recommend using the treeine battery from TSC. Only the ASB30-2 model, which is designed for the SP3 30 Mile Solar Powered Energizer. This applies to both Zareba® and American Farm Works® branded units.
