It just died on me after 9 years, but it's been great up to his point. I'm on this site looking to see if I can get it repaired, but the nearest service center is a long drive away. So I'm debating replacing or repairing it. I've had 5 acres fenced in with this unit and it's always done it's job up till now. Not annoyingly loud either, like my backup unit I had to plug in. I guess I got spoiled.
Had it for almost 2yrs when the output dropped off. After opening it up, found the capacitor terminal including the wire connected was toasted. After checking the board, capacitor and several other components were blown. Was it worth 2 yrs of service? You decide!
Thank you for sharing this recent experience. We are sorry to hear that this happened to your energizer. We appreciate this feedback and have shared these comments and concerns with our Product Manager for review.
Have had mine for 3 years now and just put it into use this summer (21) since unplugging it 2 years ago (19). Installed ground rods as instructed and get NOTHING. Even went so far as to hook up ground and put a 20' piece of wire on and standing in the grass barefoot near the rods and NOTHING
We are sorry to hear about this! When the charger is disconnected from the ground and fence wires and you test directly across the terminals, what voltage are you seeing then? We would love to offer some troubleshooting assistance, please feel free to give us a call at 855-592-7322 for additional help.
Best regards,
Susan
Fast shipping and cheaper than on third party sites. Easy to install and seems to be working correctly. Oddly smells very strongly of almond right out of the box (?). Just wish the power cord was longer.
Had a similar Zareba that worked nonstop; day and night year round: without any problems. We live on a farm/ranch and have miles of fence and the previous charger charged any section or combinations of sections we had fenced. Because of the quality and service of the previous Zareba charger we bought another one.
