It's working great killing weeds that touch a mesh electric fence. I only have 1 ground rod so question whether I need 2 more as suggested

This was a good charger, bought in April 2018 and now just over the 1 year warranty I have a loose cow down by the road. It has been outside for a year on a fence and under cover. In the 14 months of ownership it has maybe seen 3 months of usage. I use it to rotate the cows to my lower pasture. I just bought another one that is 50 mile well see how it last and how Zaeba deals with customer care and warranty from this 25 mile.

FARMER / ENGINEER / CERT. DOG TRAINER: I would like to give you the perspective you're looking for when shopping for this energizer. *NOTE*Joules measure the amount of energy for a system, felt as the 'zap, crank, hit, zing, ouch, or shock' a fence gives off. Energizers within a brand usually show a measurement, but be careful comparing brands as they use different methods for their measurements. *Note* No injury, flesh-burn, fire, or damage of any kind has ever occurred at my farm due to an energized fence line. Don't fear these wires as if they were "electrical wiring" carrying LOAD, like then ones in your home. These e-fencing lines have LOW AMPS and are much safer. I have owned 2 Zareba energizers and thoroughly used and tested each - on purpose and often by accidentally grazing my hip against the live wires- haha. I've also witnessed many family members, a toddler, 86 year old grandmother, dogs, cat, racoons, geese, chickens, experience the zap of these systems! The first was the "2-mile AC Energizer" uses for small pets and chickens. It produces a 0.07 Joule 'zap' of energy. This is distinguishable from, yet comparable to, a static zap from a doorknob in winter at ~0.00004 Joules. In regular use, the Energizer has lasted 2+ years, and running, secured in water-resistant (but not airtight) container outdoors. This is an effective Energizer for flighty animals and dogs that spook easily. DO NOT USE WITH STUBBORN DOGS - they will eventually run through as mine learned to "take the hit" and overcome the psychological barrier. The second energizer is the "25-mile AC" unit. It produces a 'zap' of 1.0 Joules (14 times greater than the 2-mile unit) and is the 'real deal' for DOG and small livestock containment as a phycological barrier. I personally fear this line, though it's "all in my head" and, due to it's more intense zap, much tougher to overcome. To clarify: It's not dangerous, just "scary". I've extended my fence line from animal containment to include human-deterrent with a strand atop our property perimeter fence and signage warning guests - whether invited or not. Buy a bigger system than you need. If you need the $35 2-mile energizer, buy the $60 25-mile instead. That's 800%+ value for a few bucks. It's expandable for distance that way, more zap, and overall better. DO NOT consider energy costs as they are negligible at $3-10/year total cost with most systems. DO consider AC/DC/Solar needs, though AC is most reliable for me and does not require much maintenance and there's no battery replacement.

This is the third Zareba product I've purchased since 1991. This unit is containing a 1200 lb steer and 4 goats. Simple to install, highly effective. Won't hurt you, it'll just surprise you and make you back up. The animals usually only touch it once or maybe twice. Get the low impedance if you have issues with weeds. Great product website to help you choose the right charger.

Wow, I measured 9,000 volts off my fence powered by this guy. That should stop a velociraptor, let alone my neighbor's loose cows. Only fault is I wish the status light was a little brighter.

Amazon Review, Worked as Intended, Easy Setup

I bought this charger from my local TSC, but the price was comparable to what Amazon is offering it for. I needed to run a hot wire at the top of my chain link fence to stop one of my dogs from jumping over. So far it's working! It has shocked her, so I know she knows what the line does - but it didn't hurt her too bad or leave any visible marks. I think it did the job, as she doesn't veer too close to the fence line now (it's been a few days since she shocked herself). I will update if anything changes, but for now I'd definitely say I'm happy with this charger, including how easy it is to set up, and I'd recommend it.
