Works just fine unless you want to check fence in out in the pasture during the day.

Thank you for sharing your experience Bob, we are sorry that you didn't see better results. Typically shading the lights slightly with your hand will allow you to see the voltage reading. If that isn't working for you, please feel free to contact us directly for additional assistance. - Susan
love it

this tester is great and you can tell when and how far away the short in a fence is. Been using one of these for ten or more years. Trouble during the day reading it.......cover the back (and sides) if you want with black or dark tape will help and also cup the lightside with your hand and having a cap on to shade it at close range it is easy to see. I like how sensitive the lights are. Looking off to the side an eight of inch can help see the top light better. no issues at night at all. ( except for seeing the fence lol )
SAME PROBLEM

I also bought this product. SAME PROBLEMS: can't read during the day. SO since this us an OBVIOUS PROBLEM, why doesn't ZAREBA fix the issue????
POOR product

Used one time and it quit working. Tried different sections of fence closer to charger and still nothing. The first and only time it worked it showed 7000v and that was it.
Works great. Added black electricians tape to improve visibility.

Works great. We put black electrician's tape all over it except where the lights shine, and that fixed the problem of not being able to see the lights in bright sunlight. I broke the cable on mine by pulling the probe out of the ground using the wire instead of pulling on the probe handle. My bad.
extremely poor quality

Too busy to wait for customer service any longer. Used item 4 times in less than 4 months, then it failed. Will attempt to return to Tractor Supply, but they aren't customer friendly without retaining sales slip (who can keep all these sales slips, anyway).

When using this tester, it is important that is done in a shady location as bright sunlight may cause the orange indicator lights to be difficult to read.We apologize for this experience and would like the opportunity to make things right. Our testers are covered under a one year warranty. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-ZAREBA (1-855-592-7322) for additional assistance.
It works, if you can see it

Works as advertised, but it is all but impossible to read in daylight. They definitely need to find a way to improve readability and still keep it inexpensive.
Not Much Good

I bought this a bit more than a year ago to use with my portable electric fence that I use wth my horse when we go trail riding. I haven't used it more than ten times, worked great and then nothing. I kept it in it's little protective plastic case and then it was stored in a canvas bag with my fence charger. It was well taken care of. I am so disappointed in this item. I know it wasn't expensive but still you would think that the thing would last longer than this. I am not fond of testing the strength of the charge by using a blade of grass. If I don't get some answers and service on why this thing died then I will never purchase from this company again.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, we apologize for this experience.
This is very unusual for the tester to no longer be working only after being used a few times. If its very bright outside, the tester may need to be shaded in order to see the amber lights. This testers is backed by a one year warranty.

Barely usable...

This is a very inexpensive voltage tester and one shouldn't expect to get much benefit from it. Can not easily read it during daylight hours and it doesn't provide exact voltage going through your fence. I ended up buying Zareba's model DEFT-Z for about $50, possibly less (can't remember), at Tractor Supply and am very pleased with it.

This tester is designed to give an approximate range regarding the voltage being carried along the fence line. We apologize that the display was hard to read in the sunlight and appreciate the time taken to share this feedback.
