Zareba® 100 Mile AC Powered Low Impedance Electric Fence Charger Ready to bring power to the fence on your ranch or other large farm operation? The Zareba® 6.0 Joule 100-Mile AC-Powered Charger is the electric fence energizer designed to meet all your needs. Manufactured by Zareba®, this plug-in charger provides you with the power you need to manage your livestock and keep unwanted wildlife away from your fences. Built in the USA, this charger can be used in heavy weed conditions, but it operates best when lines are kept vegetation-free. Also included with your purchase is Zareba® Storm Guard lightning protection.
The Zareba® 100 Mile AC Low Impedance Fence Charger is UL listed and features a 2-year warranty, which includes damage caused by lightning. Extend the warranty to 3 years when registered online.
Charger Distance Ratings Your charger’s effectiveness depends on a number of factors, and one of them is the type of line you’re electrifying. For maximum line distance, use steel wire. Poly fencing styles are easy to install but they are not as conductive, which limits their total electrifiable distance.
Animals Controlled Your Zareba® electric fence charger can be used in conjunction with electric fence lines to successfully contain or exclude a number of animal types, including bulls, cattle, exotics, goats, horses and pigs. While this plug-in charger will contain your animals, it can also be used to exclude predators, pests animals and other unwanted wildlife.
Free Storm Guard Included Your new charger comes with a Zareba® Storm Guard, which helps protect fence chargers from lightning damage.

Easy to install and it is working great to keep our bison from testing the fence. Very satisfied!
only had it for about a month now so can't say how long it will last. but so far its working real good keeping pigs in. hit the sucker by accident one time so far and i don't want to do that again it's like grabbing a 110 line felt muscles constrict in the right arm and the back of both calves, jumped back like a snake bit me was probably funny as hell to watch lol. but on the other hand i've watched litter 20 lb piglets hit it with no ill effects they squeal and run but go right back to grazing like its was nothing. so all in all im happy with it so far.
we had some trouble with the first unit but we received great service and the return was easy got a new charger promptly and everything is working fine
I have a International 5000-B fence charger for cattle operation and called customer service today to find out how many watts it draws to calculate electric cost of this unit. Customer service had no information to my surprise on this electrical based appliance. Surprised that no where does the amperage drawn and watts consumed per hour and energy costs appear on the marketing material. I recommend that the company include this feature much like refrigerator manufacturers include the energy consumption on their products.

I have used many brands of fencers since 1993 . I can say from experience they all will fail . Zareba fencers I can fix myself . Just call them they will talk you through it. If your in the business of keeping livestock that mean everything. It’s like all your other equipment sooner or later your gonna have to repair it. They’re like a trusted equipment dealer you want support not replacement when it’s broke.
not good mine worked about a year
Thank you for providing this feedback! We are very sorry to hear of this experience. How was the unit tested? We recommend removing the fence and ground wires from the energizer and testing across the terminals with a fence tester. The output should be 14,500 volts (+/- 20%).

Mean old lighting got one of my old chargers and the calves would not stay in the pasture with the cows. I didn't care when they would get out and graze in the yard but when they started grazing along the road I knew I had to do something to put a stop to it. Charger works great all I had to do was move one screw to hang it where the old charge was hanging. Claves have stayed in the pasture with there mothers since I hooked it up and plugged it in.
This Zareba 100 mile AC fence charger is excellent. In installing it, I accidentally touched the hot wire and WHOW, what a jolt...I am very happy with it. I have run three strands around ten acres and have no doubts it will be charging for several years.
All About Fence Chargers
Chargers are the heart of the fence system, providing the source for the electric current that flows through the fence wire.
The size of charger needed is dependent upon your fencing needs. These needs are determined by three main factors: the length of the fence (number of wires), the power source (AC, DC or Solar), and the type of animal being contained or excluded.
See our comparison charts of our fence chargers to help you determine which is best for your needs.
Types of Chargers
There are three main types of chargers: AC-Powered, Battery-Operated and Solar-Powered. The source of power for the charger to function determines the type of charger you will be using. Each type of charger has specific situations in which it is most desirable to use.
Selecting the right fence charger with adequate power for your enclosure is critical to keeping your animals safe.
Choosing the Right Fence Charger
The right fence charger is the heart of your electric fence system. Finding the best-matched charger for your fence is imperative to successfully contain/exclude animals. The experts at Zareba® Systems explain a simple process to ensure you buy the right fence charger to meet your needs.
Installation and Location
Every Zareba® Systems fence charger comes with a detailed installation manual. In addition, individual components include “how-to” instructions to assist in your fence system assembly.
Lightning and Power Surge Protection
Lightning is often the cause of fence charger failure. When lightning strikes the fence, the sudden power surge can travel down the fence wire and damage the fence charger.
A variety of properly installed products can prevent or limit lightning damage.
FAQs about Chargers
Q: What factors should I consider when purchasing a fence charger?
A: The power source (AC, Battery or Solar Powered), energy output (in joules), the type of animal being controlled, the length of the fence (more wires need more power) and the amount of vegetation growing near the fence should be considered when you are selecting your fence charger.
Q: What does Low Impedance mean? I see it on chargers in stores and on websites.
A: Low impedance chargers increase the joules (energy) on a fence line if weeds or other vegetation touch the fence. Low impedance chargers are ideal for long, multi-strand poly wire, tape, rope or high tensile fence systems. Low impedance chargers are recommended for most applications and can be operated by AC, DC or Solar Power.
The other type of charger, known as a solid state charger, is usually used to control short-haired livestock, small animals, and pets where only moderate weed conditions exist. These chargers deliver a medium-amperage shock and can be operated by AC or DC.
Q: Why does my fence charger make clicking noises?
A: Most fence chargers have a pulsed output. Every time it “clicks,” it is releasing energy to the fence that has been stepped up or increased through a capacitor and a transformer. This release of energy makes noise. Not all chargers make the clicking noise. The noise is designed for the owner of the charger and serves no functional purpose.
